Pregnancy from a Kindergarten point of view...

(I will shorten this announcement so I can get to the good part)

ME: Boys and Girls! Mrs. Dougherty has a baby growing in her belly! Isn't that so exciting?

5 year old response: Mrs. Dougherty, when your baby is all ready, the hospital will call you and then you can go and pick it up."

The title of this post might be a little alarming...so here is the background. Most of you know that Curt and I had the best roommates here in England that unfortunately have since moved on back to the states. We miss them terribly and although I could go on forever...I will stick to the point. They, Ken and Deena, bought a Maltese puppy while they were living here and I was lucky enough to spend about 2+ years with this dog in the house. Even though I have always grown up with Golden Retrievers running around MY house, I now have a special place in my heart for this great breed. I never thought I would be into a lap dog but I assure you, it grew on me instantly. He was all of 6 pounds on his heaviest days and had this great, bright white hair that when it got really long, he had to lift his head extra high to make eye contact with you. So cute! Deena assures me that she mentions my name (Mama Moe, of course) to Ely frequently so he is doesn't forget me and when she does, he stands real still and listens as if I might appear from somewhere. She just sent me this GREAT picture that I had to share.

Ultrasound Photo at 11.5 weeks!

Since Curt and I don't have a scanner this is a bit overdue, especially since this coming week we are now going in for the 16-18 week ultrasound. ANYWAYS, this past week Curt has been in the states and while he was spending some time with my parents and family he used their scanner to get this picture up. I think the image isn't that clear mainly because Curt has been carrying this picture around in his wallet ever since we got it. Baby's First Photoshoot! He's so proud that it is has taken over the ID slot and it's the first thing you can lay your eyes on when you catch sight of his gi-normus wallet. Enjoy!

15 weeks and counting...

Well, I have to say that these look more like pictures showing the world that I have gained a few pounds instead of pictures that show a baby bump! Either way, at 15 weeks there are definitely some changes going on so we thought that now was a great time to start documenting the belly expansion. :) As you can see, living in England has done very little for my tan. This pale skin hasn't seen sunlight in about 2 years and I think that is blatantly obvious in these pictures. I'm not that big a fan of the pictures with my shirt up, but Curt insisted so we decided to compromise. One up, one down. Here's to the start of the bump pictures...so exciting!!!

Inspiration for Curt and I...

After a quick run to base today, I was so happy to find in our mailbox ANOTHER card congratulating us on our pregnancy. Kate and Dave are an amazing couple in our sqaudron who have just had a baby of their own and she sent us the sweetest words of inspiration...

Psalm 139:13-14,16- "For You created my inmost being; You knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise You because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well...All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be."

We are just having the most amazing time moving through these weeks and we are so thankful for everything that has been given to us.

Better late than never....Easter Pictures!

As most of you already know, we had quite a snowy Easter Sunday. Thankfully, with Curt as the driver, we managed to make it into Bury for Easter service. I'm actually really glad that we had some "significant" snow that day because I almost made it an entire winter without seeing really any snow at all. Now, growing up in the northeast I have come to love these snow filled winters and it's really something that I miss very much over here in England. So, no matter what the occasion or the time of year, I am always welcoming some snow fall with open arms! I actually managed to bring a camera along so here are some pictures from Easter! Curt had taken our camera on his most recent business trip so I had to wait until he returned to get these up. OH, and because I always feel the need to give some sort of explanation behind Curt's mustache to all my non-military friends, he grew it for "Mustache March" which is something they do in his squadron. I'm not a big fan. :)

We have the Greatest Family and Friends...ever.

I just wanted to say that even though it will take me a little bit of time to individually write everyone back who responded to our big announcement, I just wanted to say how joyfully overwhelmed we are at the immediate and congratulatory feedback that we got! OMG...is really all I can say. We are so blessed.

Just another reminder of how important our family and friends are to us. You guys are simply the best.

On another note, thankfully next week is my Spring Break at school and it couldn't have come at a better time. I managed to make it all through flu season without so much as a sniffle, but this past Friday the nasty cold virus had hunted me down and got me good. Those Kindergarten buddies of mine just love to share! After a quick trip to the ER (not as bad as it sounds...) and then again to the flight doc, I learned that this tired little body has an upper respiratory infection and needs more sleep and lots-o-fluids. (no cold meds for this preggo!) I have yet to be at work this week and my little pre-spring break va-ca will continue through at least tomorrow. Today is the best I have felt since Friday but I am still "ordered" to take tomorrow off and rest.

Colds suck! ;)
